Hey Lumpy, interested in helping me change some brakes? I’ll be happy to pay you for your time. Even if I get just the front shoes changed, that’d put my mind at ease.
I was just putting my winter tires on (they are calling for snow overnight), and had a quick look. I’ve got very little pad left on the fronts, and I have no idea what condition the shoes are on the rear. Something in one of the rear drums has been squeaking every time I lift off the brakes, so I suspect I’ve got something rubbing there. I’ve had the parts in my trunk for a few weeks, but they aren’t going to do me much good sitting there.
So... interested in getting together and doing a little wrenching?

Hah, no worries. I had a look at the rear brakes and they were still looking pretty good, so I’m leaving them until spring. I should probably look into fixing my wife’s park brake and cruise control before we sell her car, though.
